Reviews of Luna Encantada D-3  D-3 Offers the best in Playa Reviewed by Rik Lammers on 2/18/2011 This condo is, in my opinion, one of the best if not the best condo in all of Playa Del Carmen. The rating is based on the condo itself, the location (right on the beach), and the condo complex (Luna Encantada). This is our second consecutive stay here and we enjoyed it even more. It is luxurious and offers unparalleled location (middle of 5 avenue) and view of the beach that are simply breath taking. Combine that with an excellent staff at Luna who are responsive, courteous, and professional and you have a great experience, as we have had the past two years. Tonya, who manages the rentals, is simply great to deal with as well. Only thing that might make us change is the roof top deck needs a gas grill and if possible, a hot tub. Otherwise, this unit is simply awesome. While some may say it is expensive, it is really little more that you would pay for a single room on the beach if you factor in buying your own food and alcohol and taking advantage of the full kitchen and laundry you have available. As always, Tonya was great to work with on the booking and her guide of things to do in Playa is very helpful.
On this occasion we stayed in D-3 which is a fabuous unit for couples. Kids are not allowed in this unit mainly because of the high-end furnishings, sculptures, and glass work. D-3 is first class.
We had no problems with noise during the day or night. The $20 per hour massages next door at Bliss were great.
We have referred friends and relatives to stay at Luna Encantada, and would not hesitate to continue to do so.
Having been a Zagat restaurant reviewers, we have to say Wicky's is a fabulous new restaurant in Playa. Great atmosphere, relaxing dinner, and excellent service. We were given time to enjoy our drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. The bread is served fresh from the oven, the salad plates were chilled, the steaks were Prime and cooked to perfection, and the dinner and wine menu's are reasonably priced. Good Sommelier too.

 The vacation from hell Reviewed by smith@aol.com on 8/9/2009 This is a beautiful condo in a great location. However, you cannot enjoy many of the ammenaties due to a nightclub next door that plays music all night long, often until 4-5am or longer, so loudly, (even with all windows and sliding glass door shut)that you cannot sleep at night or even talk to each other in the condo. There is a safe in the condo but renters are not allowed to use it. Unfortunately because of this we had our passports stolen because we were unable to have them locked up.
The property manager is great. They tried to help overcome the negatives. Unfortunately, it did not compensate for the other issues. Be leary for the price of this condo. There are many wonderful things about this condo, location, view, size, management but combined they do not outweigh the negatives. Manager's Response:
As I have tried to let everyone know, the rotten nightclub is gone! It was in no way the fault of cause of this unit or Luna Encantada that we had really bad neighbors. Passports were not stolen out of the condo as the reviewer has led readers to believe. They have also failed to report that I issued them a FULL 100% refund for their stay due to the noise. This is a beautiful condo and is enjoyed immensely by nearly all of our guests - even the folks who preceded the reviewer and dealt with the same unexpected music volume. What a shame...... Reviewed by GiGi on 7/29/2009 We loved Luna Encantada, what a beautiful condo. We thought that we had found the perfect place to stay, until 5:00 am. We were sleeping peacefully and then all of the sudden we were hit with this loud music and I mean loud. I got up to check it out and could not believe my ears or eyes. The stuff that way going on at the bar next door, the music was so loud and the people were dragging in off the beach by the truck loads, scarred me to death. We waited till around 10:00 then spoke with the manager, we were told that he could do nothing about the music and the scarry people that were showing up. He was kind enough to let us sleep in the condo behind us in an inside bedroom, which helped but did not ease our minds. We have been going to the Playa area since 1980 and have stayed at many condos, resorts and etc. We understand that things are different in playa and that is what we love about it. We have seen many changes in this once small town and do feel that the progress that it has made is a good thing for the people of this area,but this bar was not good... All week we felt so sorry for the people that owned this small group of condos,what a mess this place next door was. Luna Encantada is a beautiful condo the view is the best, the condo has been kept up, with nice furniture, was very clean. The location is the best you are just 1 block from town where all the great restaurants and shops are located. To the owners of Luna THANK GOD the bar(drug lords) is gone....
